Design and environment:
a duo that can’t be ignored

29/03/2023

Ecological concerns and environmental issues are real and are increasingly present among entrepreneurs and business leaders who feel concerned and responsible in this regard.

Our field of expertise is certainly no exception since interior design is intrinsically linked to the environmental impact of its activities. It is true, for example, that the construction or renovation of prestigious properties can leave a substantial ecological footprint, as can the creation of spectacular décors – in particular the furnishings –  because of the processes and various materials involved.

Our responsibility

At Daoust Design, this social responsibility has been at the heart of our concerns from the outset of the company’s existence, and it dictates many of our actions for the duration of the projects we are working on.

One of our most significant actions that we are proud of is undoubtedly our involvement with the non-profit organization One Tree Planted. Their mission? To contribute to the total reforestation of our planet. They have had a presence in more than 80 countries since 2014, working to restore our forests and thereby creating habitats that foster biodiversity. Their program is ultra simple: for every dollar donated one tree is planted.

For each of our projects, our Studio is committed to planting 10 trees per 1,000 sq. ft. of renovated or built space. So far, nearly 800 trees have been planted thanks to this initiative.

An impactful investment

While this initiative represents a significant investment for us, the impact it creates is even more significant. Our employees value and take pride in our commitment. In addition, most of our clients are sensitive to the cause and simply love the idea of planting trees. At the time of contract signing, we also give them a certificate confirming the number of trees that will be attributed to them.

We believe that any action, no matter how small, must be encouraged in order to preserve our planet.
