Fern

Nestled in the rolling landscape of the Eastern Townships, this smaller scale contemporary residence stands out with its generous roof overhangs, true horizontal wings that extend the silhouette of the home and protect it from the elements.

Designed on a sloped site, the project unfolds across different floor levels, creating a natural flow, varied viewpoints and a seamless integration with the terrain. Each transition reveals a new volume and a new perspective on the surrounding vegetation.

The house adopts a chameleon like coloration, subtly tuned to mirror the tones of its environment such as deep greens, misty greys and earthy browns depending on the season and the daylight. This palette allows the residence to blend into the landscape while maintaining a confident architectural presence.

Slate is used as an accent on the facade and inside. Its noble texture and natural nuances enhance the understated character of the composition and highlight the volumes with elegance, offering a refined contrast with the wood surfaces and metal elements.

Bathed in natural light thanks to large openings that are carefully positioned, the home constantly plays between shadow and transparency.

It preserves the spirit of major contemporary architecture with pure volumetry, a deep connection to nature and a harmonious dialogue between materiality, light and landscape.
